Associate Professor Dr. Yavuz Samur, who is the department head and also the vice dean (@bauebf) of the Computer Education and Instructional Technologies Department of the Faculty of Educational Sciences, Bahçeşehir University, received his PhD in Learning Sciences and Technologies – Curriculum and Instruction from Virginia Tech University in the USA with a Fulbright scholarship. He is also the coordinator of the Master of Education Program (TR/EN, Thesis/Project) at Bahçeşehir University Educational Technologies (@bauegitek).

His research interests include the use of technology in education and training, the use of digital educational games, gamification in education, educational game design (@oyuntasarimi), digital game design, children's use of technology (@childandmedia), technology/social media/game addiction and game-based learning (@EgitimveOyun).

Dr. Samur also designs physical, board and digital educational games for students and is one of the founding partners of Uğur Games (www.ugurgames.com) (@ugurgames), a company that produces games in this field.

He teaches courses such as “Educational Technologies”, “Instructional Design (@OgretimTasarimi)”, “(Digital) Game-Based Learning”, “Gamification in Education”, “Child and Media (@childandmedia)”, “Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education”, and “Multimedia Design” at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.

Dr. Samur also takes part in state-supported and corporate educational game projects, educational digital content and software/game design projects.

It also organizes many workshops and seminars in the mentioned areas for teachers, students and parents.
